Cause Why Not: NBA Logos as Retro Cartoons

With the NBA All-Star Game this past weekend, we thought it would be cool to feature some awesome NBA logo/Retro Cartoon mashups by VanilaBCN Studio. You might ask what do NBA logos and cartoons such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Care Bears, Flintstones, He-Man and Ghostbusters have to do with one another? And to that I say, Enjoy the pictures!

G.I. Joe and the Transformers

I had no idea either of these franchises had a comic book but apparently one of them did…or they both did…and then they crossed over…I dunno. My question is did this ever happen in the cartoons? Cause if it did I completely missed that one. Also, I think it is safe to say this will likely be a live-action movie by oh, let’s say 2016? “G.I. Joe, more than meets the eye”. *My ability to read has answered my own question, apparently on the top of this photo it reads “#1 in a four issue limited series” the system works!

MadTV Clops

This was one of the most original skits ever. When MadTV started they really were doing some great stuff, none much better then Clops which married clay animation (which was still relevant at the time) with the tv show COPS (which was also still relevant at the time). This sketch is clearly where Seth Green came up with the concept for Robot Chicken. So please enjoy. I know you will. “It’s just snow from the North Pole, I’m holding it for the Easter Bunny”

G.I. Joe eats some Porkchop Sandwhiches

If it wasn’t for GI Joe public service announcements I may not have the common sense I do now. The video below, however, is a re-dubbed version which was a part of a series of early Youtube/Ebaums viral videos. The best part about this clip is that it’s nostalgic in 2 ways. It brings me back to my high school years of goofing off in computer class watching ebaums world and back to my early childhood of watching GI Joe.
