Throwback Thursdays! “The Heat is On” by Glenn Frey

Seriously another death of a rock icon? This is getting out of hand here. I mean Glenn Frey! He did everything, Miami Vice, The Eagles….Miami Vice… Interesting personal facts about me with regards to Glenn Frey. ‘The Heat Is On’ is the first song I ever remember hearing in  my life (not a bad way to kick off my cognizant memory). I think I was 3 or 4 years old.  I had no idea who sang this song until one of my all-time favorite SNL sketches called “The H is O” aired. It’s pretty great. Check it out. RIP Glenn Frey, to me The “H” will always be “O”.

Bing Crosby & David Bowie – The little drummer boy (With Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly Bonus)

The Little Drummer Boy (Peace on Earth) by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. This is one of my personal favourites next to N’SYNC’s ‘Oh Holy Night’ (oh yeah, I’m serious). But this one just strikes a chord with me like no other Christmas song. So please enjoy it. And enjoy this near shot for shot re-creation by Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. It’s David F@#king Bowie and Bing F@#king Crosby. Merry Christmas

Forgotten SNL sketch: Murder in the Make-Believe Ballroom

For years my friends and others have been quoting Will Ferrell as Robert Goulet. But whenever I brought up this version of the skit most people had no idea what I was talking about. I couldn’t believe it! This was by far the best version of all time. You got Ferrell with Jay-Z (who is clearly smoking weed) singing all the Jigga’s hits and at one point dropping an F-Bomb. Those are probably the reasons NBC never seemed to replay this skit, but we cannot deny the great comedy lovers this sketch any longer so please enjoy. Oh and at one point Jay-Z offers weed to the stuffed mountain goat. “Oh yeah, ask Merv Griffin” *Updated link to video here.
