For two weeks during gym class, the gymnastics equipment was set up. For those two weeks, we had to partake in activities such as rope climbing, balance beaming, ring using, horse vaulting and whatever the hell else any of them were called. It largely sucked. Kodak used to have a brilliant ad campaign…maybe they still do, either way, whenever you had a great visual moment, you would call that a “Kodak Moment”. This caught on for a while and was referenced in several TV shows and movies my favourite of all being from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.
There are a lot of great cliche lines in television in film. Everything from “I’m too old for this…” to “If I’m not back in 5 minutes” and of course “you look like shit.” This video, however, makes an excellent point for what could be the most cliche line of all…
Remember ‘Electives’ in public school? They were meant to provide us kids with the ability to partake in physical activities and learn something in the process. I hated them. Being a fat child with no drive to do anything, I dreaded electives. I always tried to pick the least physically demanding ones, like snowshoeing and ice hut building. What did you choose? Get at us!
This may be obscure to some, but I remembered every second of this commercial. Good job war amps, your futuristic robot scared all of us away from playing in factories that are inexplicably made up of mostly buzz saws! Childhood saved!
