Covers vs Originals (pt.3): ‘Mad World’

“Mad Wold”

We got a fun one this week! And by fun I mean slit your wrists depressing. At one end we have a song that broke a British band into the mainstream back in 1983. At the other end, we have a song that helped launch a movie to cult status, become a YouTube sensation and was used with great success in a commercial to release a now very popular video game.

But who did it best? You decide.

Original: Tears for Fears. released in 1983 as the 3rd single off the album The Hurting.

Cover: Michael Andrews & Gary Jules, released in 2001 on the Donnie Darko Soundtrack.
