Problem Child 2: Murph spin kick

Sometimes there are moments in movies you watch as a kid that you think are the funniest thing you have ever seen. They are often so random and quick that you grow up talking about this minor scene to your friends trying to explain how funny it is, but your friends just don’t know what you are talking about. You get so frustrated trying to explain the scene that you end up murdering a hobo…which really only happened once and in my defense the hobo was pretty old.

My pending murder case aside. This is a scene from Problem Child 2 in which the bully Murph makes fun of Junior for not being tall enough to ride the spin ride. What most people remember about this scene is Junior turning up the speed of the ride causing Murph and others to vomit. What I remember most about this scene is Murph inexplicably showing perfect form and spin kicking the octopus sign that measures height.

It makes no sense at all and it is possibly one of the funniest things I remember seeing as a child. Luckily my little brother was with me watching this great moment in cinematic history, so I know I didn’t imagine it.

So to those I have annoyed for years trying to explain this scene to (and to one hobo that may have died in the process), I give you Murph spin kicks sign from Problem Child 2. Somewhere (most likely in his home where he lives) my brother is laughing.
