I don’t know what impresses me more the fact that in Australia the toilets flush backwards or the fact that Iggy Azalea made such an good homage to the 90s cult classic Clueless. I mean, Iggy herself was but a little Joey in her mama kangaroo’s pouch when this movie came out (Iggy was born in 1993, Clueless came out in 1995). Whether this song is your cup of tea (can of Fosters in Austraila) or not, if you love the movie Clueless, this video is worth a watch for sure. Enjoy and sorry for all to all my Australian friends for the stereotypes. Your apology package of Vegemite is in the mail!
I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who misses the pop flavored gummies known as Soda Licious. These 90s Betty Crocker fruit snacks have been discontinued for a while now which makes it hard to find much information on them but here’s what I know… 1. They were awesome. 2. They were shaped like bottles of soda and came in different flavors like root beer, cola, cream soda, and 7up. 3. Every kid would eat the bottle cap off the gummy first before gorging on the rest of the bottle. 4. If you had the mug of root beer, you held the gummy by it’s handle 5. They were so-delicious The commercial was also a piece of tasty nostalgia… Since the candy is no longer around, I call dibbs on the name. I’m going to use it for my podcast where I review soda pops.
The good folks over at Bar Down have done something fantastic! While Disney’s The Mighty Ducks is a near perfect movie from childhood when I re-watched it in my adult years I actually had some pretty big problems with the film. Now, there are a ton of movie and shows you love as a child then re-watch as an adult and realize that they are in fact terrible. This is not really the case with The Mighty Ducks. Having played hockey most of my life, the actual hockey scenes were almost unbearable to watch. However, it was not the manner in which the scenes were shot but the absurdity of what the players in the movie would get away with! I mean they aren’t even wearing regulation equipment! I know it’s a kids movie and whatever, but it still bothered me. Well wouldn’t you know it, apparently I wasn’t the only one. No, this issue bothered the people at Bar Down so much that they brought in retired NHL Ref (and 90s hair model) Kerry …
For some strange reason, I really wanted this board game as a kid. It seemed so gross, yet so fun with an extremely simple concept. Pull the gooeys out of Louie and win! Watch his brain pop out when the special gooey gets picked! I guess this 90s game of grossness did well, as it’s still in stores today.
I was watching some weekday morning television (which is a rarity) and while flipping around I came across an old childhood favorite…Bananas in Pajamas! I was shocked to see that the show was still on the air, although it has changed form as it’s now a Computer Generated cartoon version. This classic series which was just a couple of Aussies in giant banana costumes lasted from 1992 – 2001. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking, B1?” “I think I am, B2!”.
