The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Headless Horseman aside, the craziest thing about this cartoon is that it was made in 1949! This is proof that cartoons are timeless. I loved this cartoon as a kid and still recommend it as a Halloween staple. Seriously though, 1949? If you asked me even a couple weeks ago I would have bet money this movie was made in the 80s or 70s at the earliest.

For those of you who don’t know, Sleepy Hollow is the story of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman, based on Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and is narrated by Bing Crosby (who sounds somewhat drunk…then again all narrators back then sounded drunk…probably because they all were). If you haven’t seen it, give it a watch, It’s only 32 minutes long. And if you have, well take a trip down Nostalgia Lane, hang a right at Memory Road and tell them Bill sent ya (that means re-watch it). Enjoy.
