Oh buddy, this is a big childhood favorite for this guy (this guy being me. I’m sorry was that not clear?). The original song of course was by Ritchie Valens, however, in the late 80s I only knew of this version as it was getting tons of play on the radio thanks to the release of the movie La Bamba starring Lou Diamond Phillips as Valens. Fun fact: As a child I told my parents I saw the sequel to La Bamba one day at school. I claimed that Ritchie Valens actually escaped the plane in a parachute. My parents just smiled and let me go on and on. Years later I would find out what “based on a true story” meant and realize what a cool move that was by my parents not calling me on my insane lie. Enjoy the video!
“Hey good looking, we’ll be back to pick you up later” Yes, that is a line (delivered by some kind of date rapist no doubt) in this amazingly 70s commercial for Mr. Microphone. As a person who was nowhere alive in the 70s, I had no idea about this commercial. However, according to people I’ve talked to who were children of the 70s, this might be one of the biggest Nostalgia inducing commercials of the decade. Everyone knows this commercial and wanted a Mr. Microphone. And why not? It looked awesome! You just walk around and interrupt people’s radio broadcasts and pull some sweet pranks! What’s that? It only worked on a single random AM station that no one ever had their radio tuned to? Okay, well I guess that creep in the convertible had the right idea, sexually harass people from a distance! Now please enjoy one of the greatest commercials of all time. *I know The Simpsons parodied this, I just couldn’t find the clip.
Not much is known about the bitter feud between Steven Seagal and Jean-Claude Van Damme. I first heard rumblings about the dislike between the two, when Seagal was a guest on The Arsenio Hall Show. Since then and especially now-a-days after the release of The Expendables 2, rumors have been circulating, even from the mouth of Sylvester Stallone. Sly claimed that a fight nearly broke up during a party he hosted in 1997. “At a party in my home in Miami in 1997, Van Damme was tired of Seagal claiming he could kick his ass so he offered Seagal outside into my back yard,” “Seagal made his excuses and left. But Van Damme, who was berserk, tracked him down at a nightclub and offered him out again,” he added. Though the fight did not ensue the altercation between the two stars, Stallone is sure that Seagal would fall deficient had the brawl taken place.
We’ve all seen knock off toys as kids. Maybe you even owned a couple yourself. Perhaps they were a gift from a grandparent who didn’t know the difference between a genuine Ninja Turtle and a knock off Ninja Tortoise. Or maybe the knock off was a little less expensive and your dad is a very cheap man. Either way, we’ve all encountered knock off toys at some point. However, knock off toys are something that you can’t really appreciate until you are older and really see how funny these things truly are. So with that I give you a few amazing…ly bad knock offs. Enjoy! New Style Ninja Tortoise – The villain in this series is Grinder….it’s a more adult themed show. Space Boys 3 – This upsets me on so many levels. Super Robot Transformable Tomas – Some serious shit is gonna go down at Shining Time Station… Specialman – It could just be a coincidence that the Special Olympics mascot looks a lot like Superman. Super Marian – In the defense of this …
I mean, do you need anymore information then that? Enjoy!
