Everything Back to the Future II Predicted

Happy Back to the Future day! That’s right, today October 21st, 2015 is the day Marty McFly traveled to in Back to the Future II. While many of the predictions made by the movie were clearly meant to be funny and whimsical, it’s still fun to look back to see what Robert Zemekis and the film actually were successful in predicting. So, let us all take a look at the past to see how our present was predicted when it was still long in the future. Still with me? Okay, cool. Hoverboards There is much debate on whether or not hoverboards officially exist. But there shouldn’t be because they do! Check it out. The real question is, would they have existed by 2015 (or at all for that matter) if not for the movie Back to the Future?…Mind Blown.   Nike Self Lacing Shoes This “prediction” came true with the help of Nike designing and releasing the shoes to honor the film this year.   Pepsi Perfect Much like the Nike Self Lacing Shoes, Pepsi …

Pepsi Perfect from ‘Back to the Future Part II’ Available For Limited Time

Happy Back to the Future week! we’ve been waiting 30 years (well, really 26 years) to see what predictions Back to the Future got right…but that will all be in another post later this week. For now we celebrate Pepsi for releasing the version of Pepsi they drink in the movie’s depiction of 2015. That’s right! For a limited time only, on a website that hasn’t even been announced (maybe this isn’t really happening…) Pepsi will be selling Pepsi Perfect starting October 21st for $20.15 (very clever Pepsi) for a limited time only. Apparently only 6,500 bottles will be produced so paying over $20 a bottle may not be a terrible investment considering how valuable pop cans seem to get over time.¬† No word on if Pizza Hut has mastered the technology for dehydrated pizza yet, but if I can order pizza from Domino’s with an emoji, anything is possible. Now enjoy this commercial for Pepsi Perfect.

I’m Seeing Double! Here is a bunch of classic Doublemint Gum Commercials

Well summer is nearly over, and with that goes bright sunny days, waterskiing , being allowed to wear white pants and of course twins inexplicably trying to get you to chew Doublemint Gum. We’ll miss ya summer. See ya next year! And now a bunch of Doublemint Gum commercials (one features those twins from Sister Sister!). Enjoy. …I think by the 90s they ran out of twins and started making regular commercials

Not Going Anywhere For Awhile? Grab a Snickers

Not only is Snickers the best chocolate bar going, it has consistently had some of the funnier ads over the years. In the late 90s they put out their “Not Going Anywhere For Awhile?” series of commercials that I thought were hilarious. I had totally forgotten about those ads until I watched the Kansas City Chiefs game on TV and asked a friend if he had seen the classic Snickers commercial where the Chiefs’ end zone was painted incorrectly. He hadn’t and the idea for this post was born! (there’s a little peek into how the magic works at The Nostalgia Blog). All 3 commercials are pretty funny but the “Batman” one is an all time favorite of mine. Enjoy. Chefs   Heaven   Batman I bet this actually happens in the NFL more than we think…

Wait…What?: Hi-C Ecto Cooler Now Becoming a Beer

Anyone who grew up in the 80s and watched¬† The Real Ghostbusters cartoon (fuck that fake Ghostbusters show that always seemed to be on TV more often) likely also enjoyed drinking Hi-C Ecto-Cooler. And why wouldn’t we enjoy it? It was 90% sugar and Slimer approved! Well now a Pennsylvania brewery is taking my two favorite things and combining them: Nostalgia and Beer! That’s right, The Tired Hands Brewing Company in Ardmore, Pennsylvania has announced a limited edition batch of beer inspired by Ecto-Cooler called NectoCooler. They apparently used grilled nectarines to add the citrus flavor to a sour wheat beer. That actually sounds pretty good, I’ll take 15 cases! What’s that? The beer is only available for purchase at the brewery? Well that sucks. Tell you what, I was planning on a road trip anyway, I would love to see Pennsylvania in the fall. Come again? The beer sold out in a matter of days? So there is none left? So this whole post was pointless? Well, I guess I’ll go fuck myself. While …
