Public school ruled. It was easy. It didn’t matter at all in the grand scheme of things. I had no responsibilities. AND, best of all, recesses were filled with awesome activities that everyone participated in. Red ass, basketball, wall ball, lava tag and mini stick hockey. There was a time when no one could escape the wrath of students playing mini stick hockey. It was huge. I miss those times. Did you play mini stick hockey during your recess time? Get at us!
Slamball was, well, ballin’. It aired for 2 seasons in 2002 and 2003 on Spike tv and I followed it. If you have never heard of it, I wouldn’t blame you. It didn’t catch on nearly as well as I figured it would have. It was essentially a contact version of basketball with trampolines under the nets that would allow players to vault high into the air to produce spectacular plays. Sounds awesome, eh? I thought so. But apparantly not many others did because after 2003, Slamball disappeared until 2007. After another two season run, it again stopped producing new content. But fret not ballers. Slamball is currently setting up new tournaments in the US. Hopefully it graces our television sets once again. Check out this compilation of great plays from Slamball, featuring my favourite band: Limp Bizkit.
