I don’t Care if it’s Ironic or Not: This Song Rules

Alanis Morissette blew up in the 90s with her “Jagged Little Pill” album, led by the single “Ironic.” Now, I realize almost all of the instances she describes in the song aren’t technically what the dictionary describes as ironic, but I don’t care. The song is fucking fantastic. And to be quite honest, so is the rest of the record. Which is why it is one of the biggest selling records of all time. Anywhere. Ever. And, she is Canadian! So everyone who takes issue with the content of this song – SUCK IT!

Check the O.R. You like it so far?

Before he was spray painting lesbians on his parents car or singing the Bum Bum song, Tom Green was apart of a once successful Canadian hip hop group called Organized Rhyme. Their formula was to have catchy beats, simplistic choruses and clever rhymes. With this formula they created a hit record (by Canadian standards) entitled “Check the O.R.” The single won the MuchVibe Best Rap Video at the MMVA’s in 1992 and was nominated for a Juno Award in 1993. They lost however to “Keep it Slammin’” by Devon. The group disbanded shortly after. Their record label A&M Records wanted a less comedic product which caused turmoil amongst the members. MC Bones (Tom Green) went on to have the most successful career…DUH!, as he was one of the most popular comedians and recognizable TV stars of the 1990s. DJ Signal (Geordie Ferguson) is apparently a computer scientist. Pin the Chameleon (Greg Campbell) is a music producer/artist known as Mr. Bigstuff… I know, I haven’t heard of him either, but he did reconnect with Tom this year …
