After the death of David Bowie (for more on that check literally every website on the internet) I first thought of his amazing music but very soon after I thought of one of my favorite Conan O’Brien sketches: Secrets. The premise was simple, celebrities would sit in a dark interrogation room and reveal their “secrets”. David Bowie had one of my favorite secrets in a story he tells about a show in Cincinnati which you can see in the video here: Get the concept? Great now enjoy some more Celebrity….Secrets….. Bonus: My Two Personal Favorite Secrets Tom Hanks: Gwyneth Paltrow:
Back when Conan was on NBC doing his Late Night show he had a bunch of hilarious reoccurring sketches. One such sketch was he and Andy checking out “Satellite TV” channels. Conan claimed that because of the giant satellite dish that sat atop 30 Rockefeller, NBC got all these great satellite channels that no one else could get. Some of these channels included: “Peanut Suicide Channel”, “Potato Judge Channel” and “Camp Michael McDonald Channel”. Sadly, I could not find my all time favorite “Satellite Channel” Sketch which was called “Peeping Toms” that simply featured cardboard cutouts of Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and Tom Jones looking in people’s windows. However these ones are pretty good too. Enjoy! *UPDATE* The original videos posted have been taken down so here are some alternatives.
Now this is some 90s Nostalgia people! Below is a clip from when Conan O’Brien (back in his Late Night days) visited Teen Beat Magazine (Oh yeah, Teen Beat Magazine!) too achieve his dream of being a Teen Idol. This video has all the 90s stuff you want: Posters of Leonardo DiCaprio, references to The Backstreet Boys, Hanson and Planet Hollywood, 90s style clothing and an interview with then teen idol David Gallagher! Yes David Gallagher! Formally of the hit TV show 7th Heaven and current guy who just served you your pumpkin latte at Starbucks. Enjoy!
A couple weeks ago some magic happened. Some magic that only a few people got to experience…until now…well kinda…Look, what I am trying to say is that there was a show called The Simpsons Take The Bowl which was a live performance hosted by Hank Azaria (AKA Moe, Apu, etc) and featured Nancy Cartwright and Yeardley Smith with special guests Hans Zimmer, the Gay Men’s Choir of LA, Tony Hawk, and a few other surprises (like Conan O’Brien singing the monorail song). The show featured voices songs and music from The Simpsons and thanks to the internet it is available for all of us to watch on YouTube! So if you weren’t lucky enough to see it live, please enjoy this (not terribly shot) video of the evening.
Remember the time Conan O’Brien was in a 80s training video for the National Association of Music Merchants? Of course you don’t! How can you remember something you have never seen? So here it is in all it’s greatness. Enjoy.
