This is a video that features a mod in the Fallout 4 video game that allows you to turn Deathclaws (whatever they are) into Macho Man Randy Savage. Oh, but it gets better. Not only do these Deathclaws (serious, I have no fucking idea what they are) resemble The Macho Man, they also include Randy Savage quotes and soundbites. It’s time to Rumble, it’s time for the ROYAL RUMBLE

It’s one can’t miss event of the year for both wrestling fans and used to be wrestling fans. It’s the Royal Rumble, where 30 men try to throw each other over the top rope for a main event slot at WrestleMania. The Rumble has been running since 1988, when “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan became the inaugural winner. Since then, the event has been come a staple for the WWE. Even though they don’t do it as much now, I get most nostalgic about the Royal Rumble when thinking about the classic intros where they show all 30 competitors. Remember the SNES version… The Rumble has had many great moments, from Ric Flair 1992 win, Rey Mysterio winning for the late great Eddie Guerrero, to Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior squaring off for the first time. Every year, the WWE puts out a great video package called “by the numbers” that always gets me hyped. The Royal Rumble is on Sunday, January 25th.

MTV’s The War To Settle The Score

In 1984/85 the popularity of professional wrestling, in particular the WWF, was booming. The WWF was the first promotion to recognize that what they did was entertainment and not 100% sport. Visionary Vince McMahon (WWF’s CEO) knew that he needed to reach a younger demographic and thus was born the Rock n’ Wrestling connection, a partnership between the WWF and MTV. This partnership saw rock stars like Cyndi Lauper and pop culture celebrities like Mr. T get involved in the wrestling action. To kick off the Rock n’ Wrestling connection, MTV aired a one-hour special entitled The War To Settle The Score. This special featured a championship match between Hulk Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper – Live from Madison Square Garden. The War To Settle The Score put the WWF into pop culture status and made Hulk Hogan a household name (if he wasn’t already). The special also was the precursor to the WWF’s premiere event known as WrestleMania. Definitely worth a watch to see all of the celebrity appearances including Danny DeVito, Joe Piscopo, …

Where did all my quarters go? WWF WrestleFest

Among nostalgic wrestling fans and arcaders alike from the 90s, merely saying “WrestleFest” brings back epic gaming memories. WWF WrestleFest was the 1991 follow up to the smash hit arcade machine WWF Superstars which was groundbreaking in itself. The game was beyond developed for it’s time (as compared to console/PC wrestling games) with enhanced graphics, game-play and sound including voice samples, commentary and introductions. The graphics were bright and cartoony but were fun. You had two modes which was a tag tournament or the Royal Rumble. I can remember many arcade hangs in which me and a buddy would do our best to defeat The Legion of Doom for the WWF Tag Team Championship. After years of nostalgia, THQ released a 2013 remake for IOS. The game tried to capture some of the magic with a new/old roster but it’s hard to truly do justice to the big giant machine that ate all my quarters.
