Guy Predicted Cubs Winning 2016 World Series In High School Yearbook Quote 23 Years Ago

Suck on that Back to the Future! That’s right, back in 1993 a fine young gentleman by the name of Michael Lee in his senior year at Mission Viejo High School (which I can only guess is a school for wizards) accurately predicted the Chicago Cubs winning the 2016 World Series. He claims that the prediction came to him in a dream. So if you run into this guy and he tells you when you are gonna die, start drinking chocolate sauce and punching police horses because your days are numbered! I assume we all want to punch a police horse before we die. Check below to see a needless video which really just takes a minute and a half to point out all the information you can see by looking at the picture above. Enjoy!

Wheaties Box Athletes

What is the ultimate goal of an athlete? To play professionally? To win a championship? To win an Olympic medal? To beat the domestic abuse/blood doping accusation? The answer is yes to everyone of those questions because athletes are greedy. However, while setting out to accomplish all of those goals they may end up on the cover of a Wheaties box and they will also pretend like that is the highlight of their career even though we know it isn’t. With that said, there was a time when being on a Wheaties box was a huge deal (at least to the kids who ate the cereal and wanted nothing more than to be that athlete on the box). I don’t think being on a Wheaties box carries the gravitas it once did back in the day, my breakfast is now a steady diet of left over pizza and diet Rockstar energy drinks (gotta keep the calories down somewhere). Frankly, I don’t really care, this is The Nostalgia Blog and we are all about talking about …

Coke Salutes 1993 World Series Blue Jays

Back in 1992 and 1993 Coke made commemorative cans to celebrate the World Series wins by the Toronto Blue Jays. I’m sure they did this for every team but living in Canada I only saw these cans. in 1993 Coke ran a commercial congratulating The Blue Jays on the win. It is terrible and I’m pretty sure they ran it minutes after the Jays won which blew my mind as a 10 year old. I don’t know why (maybe because they are my favourite team and it was the last time they won a World Series or even made the playoffs for that matter) but this song has stuck in my head some 20+ years later. Feel free to let us know if they do this every year for each team. I hope they do because it’s pretty cool and not to brag but I still have my can from 1992.

“Chicks Dig The Long Ball”: Classic Nike Commercial

During the height of the “Steriod Era” in Major League Baseball, Nike released one of their best commercials ever. The commercial poked fun at the fact that a great pitching performance would take a backseat any day to watching Mark McGwire or Sammy Sosa sock a few dingers! The commercial featured future hall of fame pitchers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine who are frustrated with people’s (specifically hot women, more specifically Heather Locklear) obsession with seeing home runs. Despite trying to impress the ladies with the smooth line “Hey! We got Cy Young winners over here” Maddux and Glavine give in to the trend and go to work on their long ball skills…
