Is it all Jimmy Fallon?: SNL Cast Breaking Compilation

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Saturday Night Live. They also know that I claim to have started Scientology (but that’s a story for a different day). Anywho, one of the great moments in any SNL season is when a cast member genuinely breaks in a sketch. For those of you who don’t know the term “break”, it means to break character, but more simply put, it means you laugh. Lorne Michaels (creator and producer of SNL) is known for not enjoying breaking as he thinks it’s a cheap way to get laughs and cast members know this, so when they break, it usually is pretty organic and genuine. With that said, some fan has put together a great couple of video compilations of SNL cast members breaking. It is a good mix of old and more recent sketches. Full disclosure, if you haven’t seen the sketches, these breaks may not be as funny out of context, but for big fans of the show (I think there is about 6 of us left), …

Wow ‘Lazy Sunday’ was 10 years ago

Saturday Night Live has been my favorite show for as long as I can remember. It was a Saturday night staple for me. Even if I went out for the night, I would record SNL so I didn’t miss a thing. 10 years ago (which really blows my mind yet at the same time seems about right), I stayed in and watched Saturday Night Live and magic happened. I don’t remember anything else about the episode except for an amazing sketch titled ‘Lazy Sunday’. In short, it was Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell rapping about how they are going to see the movie The Chronicles of Narnia. On paper, it seems kind of funny but watching it blew my mind! I couldn’t believe how funny it was but probably the most amazing part was that the song itself was actually pretty good on it’s own. One of my roommates who stayed in that night happened to be watching SNL in his room. As soon as ‘Lazy Sunday’ aired, he came bursting into my room and …

You Got The Job: Rare Celebrity Audition Tapes

This video will be (if it isn’t already) all the rage very soon. It features 40 clips of rare celebrity auditions for roles in all of your favorite movies. Some of these actors got the roles and some didn’t. It’s pretty crazy to see some amazing actors lose out on roles and then see Megan Fox appear to flub her lines (I could be wrong on that) yet still get the role. Sunrise, Sunset. Anywho, the auditions include: Martin Freeman and Bennedict Cumberbatch – “Sherlock” Robert Downey JR – “Backdraft” Brad Pitt – “Backdraft” Leonardo DiCaprio – “Outsiders” Lindsay Lohan – “The Parent Trap” Robert de Niro – “Godfather” Alyson Hannigan – “American Pie” Michael Cera – “Superbad” Sophie Turner – “Game of Thrones” Selena Gomez – “Wizards of Waverly Place” Megan Fox – “Transformers” Natalie Portman – “Leon: The Professional” Matthew Fox – “Lost” Ellen Page – “Juno” Russell Brand – “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” Jennifer Connelly – “Blue Heaven” Hugh Laurie – “House M.D” Hugh Jackman – “X-Men” Raven Symone – “The Cosby Show” …

Iconic roles that nearly went to other actors

Will Smith as Neo in The Matrix Oh, this almost happened. It’s always to fun to look at “what ifs” when it comes to movies. A great example is the above. Yes, Will Smith was originally cast to play Neo in The Matrix movies. A couple of interesting “what ifs” come out of this. First, how different would The Matrix be with Will Smith as the lead instead of Keanu Reeves? I mean it’s safe to say Keanu put his own “Keanu” spin on the role. Also how different (and by that I mean how much worse) would the movie Wild Wild West have been had Will Smith not been in it? Yes, Will Smith passed up The Matrix to do Wild Wild West. While, this move did not hurt Will Smith’s career at all, you can make the argument it was probably the best thing to ever happen to Keanu Reeves.   Molly Ringwald as Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman It’s hard to picture anyone but Julia Roberts in this role but Molly Ringwald …
