The great people over at BarDown made a pretty cool photo series of what it would look like if the stars of Disney’s The Mighty Ducks played for the current incarnation of The NHL’s Anaheim Ducks. For those of you who don’t know, the Anaheim Ducks were originally owned by Disney and were named The Mighty Ducks after the popular kids movie. Years later, the team was sold and “Mighty” was dropped from the team name leaving us with simply The Anaheim Ducks. So what if the stars of that movie played for the current Ducks team? Here is a hint: It would look like someone photoshopped the actors heads on current players bodies. It would also look like a bunch of teens playing in the NHL…Enjoy! It was a great moment for Tiger Woods, Nike Golf and awkward high fives! If you didn’t know, it was The Masters this past weekend (call your dad and he’ll tell you all about it) and in honor of that we are taking a look back 10 years (yes this happened 10 years ago!) to relive one of Tiger Woods and golf’s most iconic shots. Woods made a sensational chip, aiming 20 feet (6 m) to the left of the hole and using the sloping green to run the ball towards the hole. The ball crept towards the cup and appeared to stop on the lip of the hole before toppling in for a dramatic birdie. Tiger went on to win his 4th Green Jacket as Masters Champion but we’ll never forget the best part of this shot…his amazing lack of high five skills with his caddy: Enjoy the clip!
You know what never gets old? 8-Bit Art! Well, I guess technically it gets old which is why we find it so nostalgic…but it’s the 8-Bit that makes it nostalgic, the art itself is actually very new….Look, I’ve backed myself into a corner here, so how bout we just all enjoy these photos? Cool? Cool. Graphic designer Mark Kenny has come up with some pretty great cross-over art featuring current NBA logos with a classic video game makeover. These logos are so cool it makes me really want to watch some NBA games…but then I realize these logos are fan art…and basketball is boring… Enjoy!
Long time ESPN anchor and Sports Center icon Stuart Scott has passed away at the age of 49. Scott basically invented the modern sports show host. His charisma and catchphrases such as “As cool as the other side of the pillow” to “He must be the bus driver cuz he was takin’ him to school.” were legendary. While his signature “Boo-Yah!” during highlights is just iconic. As a huge sports fan it is sad to see this legend pass way too soon. I thank him for his amazing work and also for inspiring one of my favourite SNL sketches of all time. R.I.P. Stuart Scott.
