The date of June 17th, 1994 might be one of the craziest days in sports history! Just how crazy? Well, here is a list of things that happened that day:
Golf Legend Arnold Palmer played is final round at the U.S. Open.
The World Cup began in Chicago.
The New York Rangers got a ticker-tape parade for winning the Stanley Cup.
The Knicks and Rockets played the fifth game of the NBA Finals.
And of course it was the day O.J. Simpson and former teammate Al Cowlings hopped in a white Ford Bronco and decided to take a little drive along the freeways of Southern California after O.J. had been charged with the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson.
Oh Yeah, all in one day! It was crazier than O.J. beating the murder charges! (yeah I said it). I would go into more detail but fortunately for you a gentleman by the name of Brett Morgen has already done that with a fantastic 30 for 30 documentary.
The documentary, titled June 17th, 1994 covers the events listed above. No additional footage or voice over was shot and the entire documentary is encapsulated in sound bites from various feeds on the day. It’s amazing. The documentary can be found on Netflix but I did you all a solid and found it on YouTube. When you have a hour, I highly recommend this documentary.
